The Source Number
Each record in the database has a Source field. Look to the digits preceding the decimal point and identify the Source from the list below. Source 55.0144 for example, will be found in book (or microfilm) 55 on page (or frame number) 144. Photocopies of all are available here, upon request.
Microfilms
Microfilms are held in Montréal at the Archives nationales de Québec, 535, av. Viger Est, or at their various branches elsewhere in Québec. Family History Centres associated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have these films available at their premises worldwide, listed under the GSU number associated with each film in the list below. Most Family History Centres will need to bring the films in from Salt Lake, for which there is a nominal fee.
Church Registers
Whether from book or film, the "Church" is identified in our database as it appears
in each record, often changing within the same church with a change in Ministers. The
Contents of each film or book are outlined below, including note of any
missing time periods.
We have been successful in locating most of the records from Churches
and time periods that were omitted from the microfilms. They have been
photocopied and the copies retained in our own files. Where the Source
is indicated as 12.0001 or higher these are photocopies in our personal
files unless otherwise indicated, while the original books remain in the hands of the Church or
agency named in the listing.
Copies from either book or film are available upon request.
